World Action Fund (WAF) is supporting Ebola preparedness and response with the West Nile Ebola Task Force, Uganda’s Ministry of Health, and health authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo. As of 22 July 2026, the DRC had reported 2,473 confirmed cases and 999 deaths, while Uganda had reported 20 confirmed cases and two deaths. With Ituri close to Uganda and communities sharing markets, movement routes and essential services, the risk of cross-border transmission remains significant. WAF supports PPE, surveillance, risk communication and community engagement, coordination, key response pillars, and meals and safe drinking water for frontline responders and people in holding centres. WAF urgently appeals for additional support to strengthen preparedness, protect frontline workers and prevent further spread.
