We are always looking for flexible and passionate professionals from all kinds of backgrounds to join our team. Previous experience or not, we provide mentorship, briefings and training to prepare members of our team for the work they will be doing. We encourage applications from volunteers who speak English or their group leader knowing English if some can’t speak, with interpretations they would be in position to help.
There is a small financial contribution that is needed for each of our projects, but it equates to just a few United States dollars per night for the time of your placement. Volunteer transport him or her self either using private vehicle to the project location from Entebbe International Airport or this can be arranged if needed, at the cost of a volunteer. If you are concerned about the financial costs of volunteering, we strongly encourage you to apply or fundraise for a cause: we are committed to making sure that financial barriers do not stop anyone from volunteering with us.
We take this work very seriously and require that you do the same. We make a great effort to ensure that we do not cause any harm to the people we support or to anyone else, so we expect our volunteers to follow best practices at all times, as outlined in our Volunteer Agreement and Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Policy.
What can I do?
Most of our shorter-term volunteers will be working on the ground in our various projects. Volunteers with us have cooked, written projects, fundraised, cleaned, taught, packed, organized, posted, built, played, painted, emailed, designed, translated, collected border violence testimonies, and so much more. Whatever your skills, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll be able to put them to use volunteering with World Action Fund
Once we have received your application, we will get back to you about the current state of our projects as well as a suggestion of what project we think would suit you best. However, while volunteers are usually assigned to a dedicated project, it is important to retain some degree of flexibility. With the ever-changing circumstances humanitarian efforts are often facing, we sometimes have to ask our volunteers to help out with tasks different to the project they may have signed up for.
Volunteers who wish to have a trip to national parks will have to pay different cost for their stay and permit for Gorillas and access to the game parks etc.
